What is Competitive Case Presentation?

Is a contest of clinical cases focused on the care of patients with acute or advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock who require specific interventions and percutaneous or surgical implantation of circulatory support devices. Therefore, scenarios such as the care of patients with congenital or structural heart disease, coronary artery disease or complex valve disease, and heart failure and cardiogenic shock of other etiologies are consider.

Who should join?

The contest is aimed at resident physicians, fellows and assistants dedicated to the care of critical cardiac patients from a multidisciplinary point of view (cardiologists -specialists in acute cardiac care, coronary and structural interventionism, imaging, arrhythmias and heart failure- and pediatricians, intensivists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists and nursing.

How to participate in the Competitive Case Presentation.

  1. Register for the event using the registration form through https://accismadrid.org/
  2. Registration is free.
  3. To Upload the case, please follow the instructions in the web link enabled for it «Upload your case».
  4. Present the case during the event (by one of the 3 principal authors) if you have been selected among the 4 finalists.

Instructions for the cases.

Format:

  • Cases will be sent in power point format (.PPT), Without videos and a maximum of 6 slides longer.
  • The first slide will include: the names of the authors (maximum 10), workplace, contact email.

Delivery:

  • The cases will be uploaded through the link “ Upload your case” enabled for this purpose on the Madrid-ACCIS web platform.
  • An independent Committee (Jury) will evaluate the cases.
  • If the case is selected as finalist: one of the principal three authors agrees to present the case during Madrid-ACCIS.
  • The 4 finalist cases will be presented during Madrid-ACCIS. Those cases that are 1st and 2nd finalists will receive a cash prize. 1.500€ for the 1st and 1.000€ for the 2nd.

Deadlines:

  • Case delivery: May 30th, 2023
  • Communication of the 4 finalist cases: June 2nd, 2023.
